Expansion Plans

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elmwood Village Charter School Expansion Plans Approved.

BUFFALO, New York (December 14, 2010) – The Board of Regents approved the charter renewal of the Elmwood Village Charter School. The renewal includes an expansion through 8th grade, as well as the addition of a 2nd class at each grade level. EVCS added a second kindergarten this fall.

“It’s very gratifying that the Board of Regents has recognized, through their actions today, that EVCS has an excellent program and should be allowed to expand through 8th grade. I’m so glad that we’ll be able to offer our programs to more children in Buffalo” said Liz Evans, founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees.

EVCS provides students in the City of Buffalo with a stimulating and engaging learning environment that recognizes student capability, fosters their connectedness to their immediate and broader communities, and offers them ways to contribute to school life. Elmwood Village Charter School is currently the highest performing public elementary school in Buffalo. EVCS outperformed New York State averages by 26% in English Language Arts and 24% in Math.
